US Secretary of State John Kerry has been announced as the winner of the Tipperary International Peace Prize.
It's in recognition of Mr Kerry's work on a global basis to bring about an end to conflict in many countries, in particular in Syria.
Commenting on his selection as the 2015 winner, Secretary Kerry said he was grateful for the accolade and was honoured to be included with “remarkable past recipients who have contributed so much to the cause of creating a more peaceful world.”
The Tipperary International Peace Award is chosen from a shortlist of figures from across the globe who work for peace in war torn countries
Former winners include Ban Ki Moon, Dr Richard Haass, the late Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton and Mary McAleese.
Mr Kerry will collect the prize at a ceremony in Tipperary later this year.
