The Jobs Minister has rejected allegations that he has abandoned Tipperary in the latest action plan for jobs.
Independent TD Seamus Healy levelled the claim against Richard Bruton in the Dail this morning following the publication of the Government's regional strategy for jobs.
Figures released show that in 2014, 64 jobs were created across the county by IDA client companies while 62 were lost.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton dismissed accusations that he has abandoned County Tipperary in the regional strategy action plan for jobs announced by Government yesterday.
During a series of robust exchanges in the Dail this morning, Independent TD Seamus Healy repeatedly told the Minister that the county had been forgotten about in the plan.
The strategy includes individual plans for each of the eight regions to be put in place by the third quarter of this year.
Tipperary falls into two regions – the Mid West, covering North Tipp with South Tipp included in the South East region.
Independent Deputy Seamus Healy was left unimpressed by the Government's plan for job creation
However, the Minister rejected the criticism from Deputy Healy and accused him of having a narrow focus.
Seamus Healy remained unconvinced by the Government's strategy and used the example of the empty Johnson and Johnson owned Cordis plant on the Cahir road in Cashel.
But Minister Bruton said negations were ongoing in securing a new investor for the site.
Despite several robust exchanges, the Minister remained adamant that everything is being done to secure new employment opportunities for County Tipperary.
