ISPCC reveals Christmas Day calls

The ISPCC was open on Christmas Day and responded to 1,450 calls, texts and web messages.

According to the ISPCC, this is a 20% increase in contacts answered compared with last Christmas.

75 volunteers from across Ireland listened and offered support to hundreds of children who needed to talk on Christmas Day. 

For many children Christmas can be a difficult time to be at home bringing unwelcome stress and trauma.

This year Childline celebrated its 25th Birthday and in May answered its 5 millionth call.
