Investigations are continuing in the South of France after a vicious assault on a young Irish woman at the weekend.
The 25-year-old was beaten with a motorcycle chain-lock during an apparently random attack in Avignon on Saturday.

She was left with wounds to her face and neck after the attack by a group of three men which happened close to the tourist accommodation where she was staying.
The Department of Foreign Affairs says it’s aware of the case and is ready to provide consular assistance.
