According to local media, Trevor Loftus of Pallaskenry became trapped when a boom crane collapsed onto a truck in New York at around 11.40am local time yesterday.
The 40 year old was pronounced dead at the scene in Manhattan.

The New York City Department of Buildings is investigating the incident.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed they are aware of the case, and says they are 'ready to provide consular assistance'.
