Ireland boosts recycling rates

Over 10 million tonnes of recyclable materials have been diverted from landfills since 1997.

This has led to the number of landfills decreasing from 126 to just 4.

Repak has released the figures to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Ireland ranks the 7th highest country in the EU by recycling and recovering 91% of all packaging waste.

In the last twenty years, we’ve recycled 8 billion plastic bottles, 7 billion glass bottles, 6 billion aluminium cans and 4 million tonnes of paper and cardboard.
