Kilcoran Lodge is no longer being considered as a potential IPAS centre.

The Department of Integration had previously confirmed that they were assessing an offer to use the hotel outside Cahir for asylum seeker accommodation.

That’s despite the receivers who are managing it confirming to TippFM News hat they had not made an offer and hadn’t agreed any deal to sell it to a particular buyer.

The Community Engagement Team now says the property is no longer under consideration.

Local TD Mattie McGrath says this is good news for the local community who would miss out on use of the venue if it was signed up.

“That’s great news for the parish of Ballylooby and everyone in the community, especially those who use the facility for leisure.”
