Investigation into how special needs student was found wandering in Cashel this week.


An investigation's underway into an alleged incident where a special needs student was left onboard a bus bringing children to a Tipperary school this week

It's understood they were subsequently found wandering on the grounds of a restaurant in Cashel.

This incident allegedly happened last Tuesday morning as a number of individuals with special needs were being transported to a school in the South Tipperary area.

However it's understood that one child remained on the coach as it then departed and was later discovered wandering n a large car park adjacent to a restaurant on the outskirts of Cashel.

In a statement to Tipp FM Bus Eireann has confirmed that the matter is currently being investigated, however a spokesperson added that there will be no further comment – pending its outcome.

This alleged incident comes just months after a woman with an intellectual disability was locked on a board a mini bus at Limerick Junction for up to seven hours

The woman was supposed to have been dropped off at the Moorhaven centre for adults with intellectual disabilities in Tip town but was subsequently discovered by a bus driver at the West Tip Village.
