It involved two jets which were taxiing near the runway – when the wing of one clipped the tail of the other.
Dublin Airport says normal service has since resumed – but Ryanair has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
This incident – which is described as ‘rare’ – happened before 7 o’clock this morning.
It involved two Ryanair jets – one heading for Edinburgh, Scotland – the other for Charleoi in Belgium.
Both of the Boeing 737 planes suffered minor damage – with photos on Twitter showing a piece of one wing caught on the tail fin of the other plane.
No one on board either flight was injured – while Ryanair says both jets were being guided by Air Traffic Control at the time.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit has now launched a formal inquiry into the matter.
Dublin Airport has said all delays earlier today – of up to 2 hours – have since been cleared and full service has resumed.
Passengers on the two planes involved will be boarding alternative flights across the day.
