Insurance companies not happy with PIAB changes

Efforts to bring down the cost of insurance have been given a boost with new draft laws on the Personal Injuries Assessment Board.

Under the Bill, claimants who fail to engage with medicals may see that held against them in future court cases.

But insurers say the lure of high payouts in Court is not addressed by the Bill.

Just one in five claims are settled through the PIAB, with the rest being settled by insurance companies or going to court.
