Inquiries launched into death of 3 year old in Galway.

A post-mortem will be carried out today on the body of a three-year-old boy who died in a lift shaft in Galway yesterday.

Solomon Soremekun was with his mother and two siblings at the Hynes Building on Augustine Street when he became separated from them and gained access to the lift shaft.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after three o'clock and both the Gardaí and Health and Safety Authority have launched investigations.
