Having topped the poll in the local elections independent candidate John O’Heney is more than happy with his performance in the General Election.

He got 2,534 first preference votes in the Tipp-Cashel Local Electoral Area in the Council elections which he increased to 3,692 on Friday.

However he admits that his lack of profile outside of his west Tipp base probably worked against him in the wider Tipperary South constituency.
