South Tipperary T.D Tom Hayes is predicting that a host of new services could soon be available at your local post office.

The Chairman of the Oireachtas Transport and Communications Committee says services such as motor tax payments, driving license applications, rail ticket purchases and increased banking facilities could come on-stream.

His comments follow a meeting of the Committee at which Deputy Hayes established a working group on the future of the Irish postal network.

The Fine Gael T.D believes the Post Office can and should be at the heart of rural communities, right across the country.
