IMO insists government has no real understanding of ED crisis

Yesterday, it emerged that a 91 year old patient was left waiting on a trolley in Tallaght Hospital for 29 hours earlier this week.

The incident was exposed by a consultant, who wrote to the hospital's management comparing the situation to 'torture'.

Tallaght Hospital since released a statement apologising for the appalling delay.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has demanded to know who was responsible for leaving the 91 year old man on a hospital trolley.

But, President of the IMO Dr. Ray Wally says the Taoiseach's reaction doesn't recognise the root of the problem of emergency department overcrowding:
