Gardai are appealing for help in identifying two men who savagely attacked a taxi driver in North Tipperary.
The driver was stabbed in the chest with a knife and a screwdriver and forced to leave his taxi in the early hours of Saturday morning last.
He had collected two men at his taxi base at Treaty Cabs in Limerick at 1am and took them to Newport where he was attacked.
The taxi was found later in the Childers Road area of Limerick.
Gardai in Nenagh would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything either on Davis Street in Limerick or in Newport in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The two assailants were in their 20s and both spoke with local accents.
The taxi driver was hospitalised following the incident and discharged the next day.
