The UN refugee agency says at least 239 people have died in two shipwrecks off Libya.
A spokeswoman says the information was confirmed by two survivors brought ashore on the Italian island of Lampedusa.

According to the International Organisation for Migration, more than 4-thousand lives have now been lost in the Mediterranean so far this year.
