HSE dress code described as sexist.

A proposed dress code for women working at Nenagh General Hospital and other facilities in the Mid West HSE region has been criticised as sexist and insulting.

The code would see women asked not to wear tops which show too much cleavage, micro skirts, very short mini-skirts or short tops.

I.N.M.O industrial relations officer Mary Fogarty has described the HSE's terminology as bizarre.

She has written to the HSE asking them to remove references to specific styles of clothing and to instead to refer to wearing clothes which are comfortable or appropriate.

A spokesman for the HSE says the formalising of a dress code is so that all concerned clearly know what is acceptable and what is not.
