The Mayor of Clonmel is strongly rejecting claims that raising the Local Property Tax for the next three years was a political stunt.
The LPT will be 15-percent above the national base rate from next year which is up five percent on the last four years.
The local Authority had argued for it to be brought in for the full five-year term of this council but the Councillors voted it in for three after a contentious debate in the Chamber.
Sinn Fein’s Davy Dunne told Tipp FM that was just a cop-out – but Cllr Michael Murphy is defending the move.
