A significant housing project in Cahir is being delayed due to issues with water connections.
The matter was raised by Senator Imelda Goldsboro in the Upper House today as she called for an urgent review of the situation nationally.
She told Minister of State at the Department of Housing and Local Government John Cummins that 44 houses in Cahir were being held because it is taking Uisce Éireann so long to provide a connection.
“Irish Water has told him 16 weeks is what he has to wait for. Now the weather is fine, its very suitable for building.
“But having to wait four months unfortunately is going to cause a number of delays. Its going to have a significant negative impact on him, on his other developments and on his staff.
“I ask here this morning that we have a look to see what way that they can streamline the process?”
