Tipperary County Council is being urged to carry out a survey on just how many local authority homes have had maintenance updates in recent years.

It comes amid multiple complaints to Councillors from homeowners who say their properties haven’t been touched in years and are now subject to dampness, mould on the walls and other such issues.

Several local representatives raised the matter at the latest meeting of the Thurles- Templemore Municipal District including Fianna Fail’s Michael Smith.

He feels a survey would benefit both the council and the tenant

Fianna Fail Mid Tipp representative Sean Ryan says its particularly prevalent in areas close to him.
