The government won’t continue funding Tipperary County Council to buy houses where tenants are at risk of homelessness.
That’s according to officials in response to a question from Labour Councillor Fiona Bonfield.

The local authority says government policy seems to have changed on the ‘Tenant In Situ’ scheme.
This is where someone gets a notice to quit because the landlord is selling the house – up to now the council has been able to step in to buy the property and keep the tenant in their home.
Councillor Bonfield says she’s disappointed to see the new coalition aren’t continuing to support what was a very good scheme.
