Concerns about policing levels in the North Tipperary town were raised this week after it emerged the current officer was being transferred, reducing garda numbers in the area to just four – down from 3 Sergeants and 9 Gardaí several years ago.

Local representatives fear it will have a very negative impact on Borrisokane and the surrounding townlands.

However speaking to Fran Curry on Tipp Today Chief Superintendent Catherine Kehoe hopes to ensure that won't happen.

Four recently promoted Sergeants have been allocated to the Nenagh District and will be split between the Nenagh and Roscrea stations. Chief Superintendent Kehoe aims to have one of the Roscrea Sergeants will be assigned responsibility for the Borrisokane area.
