Hill Walking group rescued from the Galtee mountains

A hill walking group was rescued from the Galtee mountains yesterday after getting in to difficulty.

The group was overcome by severe weather conditions and very poor visibility on the summit of Galtemore on Sunday afternoon.

They successfully made their way off the summit, but were forced to find shelter on the mountain once daylight faded.

Members of the South East Mountain Rescue located them in the dark and escorted them down to the valley.

All members of the walking group were safe and uninjured.

Members of the Gardai from Cahir, Thurles and Tipp town also assisted in the operation
which was described as difficult with low cloud, driving rain & severe wind gusts.
