13 year old Ryan Brennan allegedly suffered brain damage at his birth at St. Joseph's Hospital in Clonmel.

He sued a consultant at the hospital and the HSE through his mother Lorraine Brennan of Avondale Court in Cahir.

Ryan, who has cerebral palsy, will need constant care.

An interim payment of €1.7m for the next two years has been agreed.

The settlement was without admission of liability and against the HSE only.

The case against Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Brendan Powell will be struck out.
