Vigil for 24/7 cardiac care in Waterford hospital

A vigil will be held outside University Hospital Waterford this evening highlighting the need for 24/7 cardiac care in the South East region.

It comes after a Waterford man died at the weekend while being transferred to University Hospital Cork for cardiac care.

A national meeting was held last Saturday by the Still Waiting Health campaign – which have organised this evening’s vigil – where the lack of services was highlighted.

The health minister, Simon Harris, told the Dáil on Wednesday that hospital management in Waterford have been given extra money for the service, but it’s up to them to spend it.
