Curbing the emigration of home-grown medical staff would alleviate the pressure on overcrowded Emergency Departments serving the county.

That’s the view of Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill who says that staffing recruitment and retention should be the number one priority of the HSE.

With two floors of Cashel Hospital lying idle, and overcrowding in South Tipp General and University Hospital Limerick at near crisis levels, the Tipp TD says that additional personnel need to be made available.

He says payment structures to entice medical staff to stay in the country need to be implemented.
