Carers in Tipperary have given a cautious welcome to the news that free GP visit cards are to be given to those in receipt of the carers allowance.
14,000 Carers nationally will be able to apply from September 1st.
Fine Gael General Election candidate in Tipperary Mary Newman says that this policy change will benefit many carers in the county, enabling them to look after their own health and well-being.
However Councillor Richie Molloy, Area Manager with Family Carers Ireland, says while it’s a welcome development – many carers still won’t get it.
