Surge in cases of whooping cough in Tipperary

The HSE says it’s down to falling vaccination rates and it could pose a fatal risk to young babies with 1-in-500 dying from the infection.

They are calling on parents and pregnant women to make sure they and their children have had their free jabs.

Consultant in Public Health Medicine Dr Ruth McDermott says the case numbers have been rising rapidly.
