Nearly 2,000 homes and businesses in Carrick-on-Suir won’t have safe drinking water over the holidays.
Uisce Éireann has warned that a boil water notice will remain in place for the Crotty’s Lake Supply until the New year at least.
A Boil Water Notice was issued on the 25th November for the Carrick-on-Suir Crotty’s Lake Supply due to operational issues at the treatment plant.
It affects just under 2-thousand local households and business who must boil their tap water to make sure it’s safe for drinking preparing food that not being cooked or for brushing their teeth.
It covers All parts of the town South of the river except Friar Street Upper, Corpse Road, Rack Hill, South Quay and Bridge Street
North of the Suir it affects Hazel Close, Hawthorn Cresent, Asgrove, Oak Drive, Beech Ave, Sycamore Close and Mount Saint Nicholas
As well as the Townlands of Ross, Clonmoyle, Ballyhest, Ballygarret, Sheskin, Curraghduff, Joanstown in Co. Waterford
However homes on the Linguan Water Supply in the area are fine.
Uisce Éireann says they are working hard to lift the notice as quickly and as safely as possible but says it will not be done for the holiday period.
