Tipperary TD Michael Lowry and his Regional Independent group have secured two super-junior and two junior ministries in return for their support for a Fianna Fáil – Fine Gael led coalition.
Following lengthy discussions on a programme for government a deal has been reached which will see the group backing the main parties for the full five year term.
In an exclusive interview with Tipp FM News Michael Lowry says agreement was finally reached at 1am last Monday morning.
The Thurles Deputy says health services in the Mid-West was a key focus for him during the negotiations.
“I was obviously placing particular emphasis on the problems we have at UHL and the Mid-West region in general.
“There’s a number of areas – obviously capacity is an issue, staffing is an issue, management is an issue, structures are an issue. And the appalling crisis that we have had ongoing at UHL is a priority to be addressed by this government and obviously I will be keeping a very close eye on that.”
