Hundreds of healthcare workers are protesting at Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel this afternoon.

The lunchtime demonstration is being staged by members of the Fórsa trade union, SIPTU and the INMO in response to unfilled health posts.

Colette O’Connell, Chair of the union’s Tipperary South Health and Community branch, says staff are burnt out.

“I have members here on a daily basis – they’re trying to cover vacant posts as well as doing their own work. They are totally burnt out. Members are having their lunch at computers to try and get work done. Our frontline members are bearing the brunt of the anger of the public.”
