Visiting restrictions are in place at Tipperary University Hospital due to an outbreak of influenza.
Management at the Clonmel hospital say visiting is only permitted in exceptional circumstances by arrangement with the Clinical Nurse Manager / Nurse in Charge.
Exceptions will be facilitated by the Clinical Nurse Manager on the ward in the case of end of life patients and critically ill patients.
Meanwhile the number of patients with flu at University Hospital Limerick has increased by more than 200% since Monday of last week.
Given the demand on services, management are restricting visitors across all hospital in the group including Nenagh and UHL to one visitor per patient.
Children are not permitted to visit adult wards while visiting hours of 2-4pm and 6-9pm will be strictly enforced.
