Works continue to ensure a safe water supply to parts of Carrick on Suir.
Around 2,000 homes, farms and businesses have had a boil water notice in place since last November.
It’s due to what Uisce Éireann described as operational issues at the Crotty’s Lake water treatment plant.
Water Operations lead with the utility Colin Cunningham says works have been carried out but more are needed.
“Some of the equipment had to be replaced but the whole site had to be reprogrammed – all of our sites would have automation that controls shutdowns to protect non-compliant water going into service. So the while site had to be reprogrammed which took a bit of time and then we were moving towards lifting the boil water notice but unfortunately some additional equipment had to be replaced. So that’s all on order and contractors appointed.”
Colin Cunningham has told Tipp FM that Uisce Éireann hopes to lift the boil water notice in a matter of weeks.
“We would have aimed to have that lifted probably at the start of this month but unfortunately with the additional issues now its dragging on into March – we certainly hope to lift it by the end of March. We’ll be aiming for possibly sooner – two to three weeks time.”
