Call on HSE to come clean on ambulance problems in Thurles area

Thurles Councillors are writing to the HSE and the Minister for Finance to try and sort out the problems with the ambulance service in the area.

A motion was brought by Cllrs Micheál Lowry and Shane Lee to highlight the ongoing problems.

They are asking that the HSE clarify the staffing levels and capacity of the ambulance bases in Thurles and Roscrea and explain when they might be up to optimal levels.

Councillor Lowry says the service is not fit for purpose locally at the moment.

He claims there was no ambulance available locally over recent weekends due to lack of paramedics and so the waiting times for a number of critical incidents were unacceptable

Councillor Lowry says the HSE needs to come clean about how bad the problems are.
