A blood donation clinic will be held in Cappawhite this evening.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is appealing to donors to attend as demand for supplies is up significantly on last year.

Regular donors are always welcome but there is a particular push to get new donors on-board as attendance at clinics traditionally drops in August.

Alex O’Connor is Donor Recruitment Executive with the IBTS.

“This year the challenge is even greater as hospitals across Ireland are requiring 6% more blood than this time last year.

“So we’re appealing to our blood donors to attend this evenings clinic in Cappawhite Community Centre from 4.50pm to 8.10pm. First time donors are especially welcome and bookings can be made by phoning 1800 222 111.”
