Cyclists of all abilities are being asked to show their support for Pieta by taking part in a Darkness into Light with a difference on Saturday morning.
Clonmel Cycling Club are organising a leisurely cycle starting from the Talbot Hotel at 5am to raise awareness for people impacted by suicide and self-harm.
Those taking part will travel as a group to the Kickham Plaza before heading at their own pace towards Carrick on Suir and turning back after 45 minutes.
Nicola Maunsell from Clonmel CC says cycling in itself can be therapeutic in itself.
“There is nothing nicer than being out on the road pedalling along at your own pace and having a chat. You know for some people it could be their way of expressing themselves to others – maybe they’ve not talked to anyone in the day.
“The endorphins that are released when you’re cycling, when you’re exercising, there’s nothing like it really so totally good for mental health.
The event is suitable for all cyclists – once you have lights on your bike.
Nicola says it will be a great opportunity to get some fresh air and support a very worthy cause.
“We’ll have a donation bucket on the day so you can throw in a few quid – there’s no fee on it so whatever you’re comfortable with. We will put whatever monies collected straight into the Pieta account.”
