The number of patients over 75 left on trolleys in Emergency departments for more than 24 hours has been described as ‘horrific’ by a Tipperary TD.

Jackie Cahill was reacting to the publication of figures that show 838 elderly people were without a bed in the Emergency Department at University Hospital Limerick for more than 24 hours in the first six months of the year.

There were 198 people over 75 kept waiting in South Tipp General in the six months to July.

Tipp TD Jackie Cahill says it’s a serious medical issue.
