The number of patients without a bed at University Hospital Limerick has risen to over 100.
According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation the figure nationally is up more than 50 on yesterday to 457.
108 of these are at UHL which covers North Tipperary – up from 92 on Monday.
That’s more than double the next most overcrowded facility today which is University Hospital Galway with 53.
8 patients who have been admitted to TUH in Clonmel are being cared for on trolleys today.
Meanwhile an agreement has been reached to introduce an extended working day and week to the health service.
Staff such as consultants, social workers and administrative staff will now be rostered over seven days, as opposed to five.
It’s hoped the deal will reduce the hospital trolley crisis, free up beds and reduce waiting lists.
Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, says the agreement will get the most out of the health service on a 24/7 basis.
