More than 400 on trolleys across the country

Over 400 people are being cared for on trolleys in hospitals around Ireland today.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation the numbers are up 8% on the same day last year at 413.

39 of these are at University Hospital Limerick which provides cover for North Tipperary.

At South Tipp General in Clonmel there are 12 patients on trolleys around the Emergency Department or in overflow areas of wards.

Nenagh General has one person without a bed this lunchtime.

University Hospital Galway is the most overcrowded today with 43 people waiting for a bed.
