They were seeking permission for a 64 bedroom extension to Melview Nursing Home.

The three storey development will link with the existing facility and involve internal and external alterations to the existing nursing home.

A new entrance is to be developed from the Cashel road together with on site parking.

Pedestrian access only would be through the existing Melview residential estate which already has planning.

Submissions were lodged with Tipperary County Council in relation to the application from residents of Cooleens Close & Dr Pat O'Callaghan Row as well as from a number of other individuals.

The existing Italianate house is a protected structure and currently caters for 36 residents.
