The development includes for the construction of a “table top” plaza around the statue of Charles Kickham and the creation of a one way traffic system running North to South on Kickham Street.
It will also see the removal of the existing herringbone parking system for a parallel one and the project forms part of an overall plan to boost the Mid Tipp Town with €40,000 set provided for these works.
The plan was passed by the local Municipal District by 5 votes to 2 and Fine Gael Cllr Michael Fitzgerald feels it will be of huge benefit to Tipp Town
However Denis Leahy who was one of two councillors to vote against the plan feels it's not taking into account the concerns of local businesses.
