Union representatives are due to meet with production staff at the drinks company following the news that 31 jobs are to be lost there.
Staff at Gleeson's Borrisoleigh plant were called to a meeting with management at The Ragg yesterday afternoon where they were told that C&C are looking for redundancies from its 137 strong workforce.
All the positions will be lost from the 90 strong production section of the factory, meaning a loss of a third of the workforce.
The drinks giant – which took over Gleeson’s in late 2012 – announced redundancies across its admin and sales departments last month.
It's understood the redundancies are due to the loss of two contracts from major supermarket chains in Ireland and as a result, the company need to restructure its operations.
Discussions will now take place between management and the SIPTU union, which represents the staff on a redundancy package.
No details have been given on what kind of package will be on offer for the staff but a meeting will be held this afternoon between SIPTU and workers where further details are expected.
Tipp FM has made repeated requests to C&C for a statement on the job losses, no response has been recieved as of yet.
