French officials say the cockpit voice recorder from yesterday's plane crash has been damaged, but the information stored on it can be recovered.
Efforts are resuming to search the site in the French Alps where the Germanwings aircraft came down yesterday morning, apparently killing 150 people.
18 of the victims were students and teachers from a school in Haltern, about an hour from Dusseldorf Airport.
Irish Times European correspondent, Suzanne Lynch, is there this morning.
“Children from all ages, from the ages of about 10 and up, have started arriving here and are moving freely in front of the school looking at the display of candles that have now been set up outside the school on the steps” she said.
“But there are psychologists inside, there are priests inside and there's going to be an assembly in the main area of the school – and officials here are telling us kids are welcome to stay as long as they like…but the school will remain open all day” she added.
