The incident happened at the slipway at the back of the post office in the town this morning when the woman entered the water…
Gardaí attended the scene and two members of the force went into the river to rescue the woman…fire services and ambulance personnel also responded.

The woman has been taken to South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel for treatment.
One of the Gardaí was also taken to hospital as a precaution as they were in the water for some time but he is expected to be released this afternoon.
The officers have been praised for their bravery in going into the river.
