Gardai are investigating the discovery of a mans body in north Tipperary.

The body of the 23 year old was found in a house in the Bruach Tailte estate off the Birr Road at around 4.30pm yesterday.

He has been named locally as Pearse O'Brien from Upper Belleen, Nenagh.

It's believed he may have been attending a party at the house. He had just recently returned from Australia.

The scene has been preserved and the deputy state pathologist Dr Michael Curtis has visited the scene – a post mortem is taking place today.

Garda forensic investigators have examined the location – the death of the 23 year old is understood to have been a tragic accident.
