The collision -between a van and a motorcycle – happened on the N80 Portlaoise to Carlow road, close to Arles at around 6 o'clock.
Two men, the driver and passenger of the motorcycle, believed to be in their late 20s or 30s, were fatally injured.

The van driver was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise but is not thought to be seriously injured.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.
