The incident happened on Tuesday last when a sulky race resulted in a horse crashing into a parked car and being left abandoned on the side of the road.
The animal's injuries were so severe; he had to be put down by a vet.
The people responsible for the race fled the scene and Sergeant Ritchie Coughlan is appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact Cahir Gardaí
