Garda investigation continues into fatal crash near Cahir.

The man who died in a crash on the M8 near Cahir in the early hours of yesterday morning is reported to have been driving on the wrong side of the motorway.

Gardai had tried to intercept the motorist after they were contacted by other drivers who had seen the car driving north on the southbound lane.

82 year old Martin Heffernan from Ballinahow near Tipperary Town died instantly when his car collided head-on with a truck shortly after 2 o'clock yesterday morning on the motorway between Mitchelstown and Cahir.
