Garda boost from Templemore graduation

They were among 149 recruits that graduated from the Garda College in Templemore today.

The new officers who are from Cork and Limerick will be based in the Clonmel District.

A senior garda figure insists new garda recruits will help to tackle rural crime in areas like Tipperary despite the majority of those passing out of the Garda College today being stationed in Dublin.

It's claimed these probationer gardaí will allow other officers to be transferred nationwide.

Deputy Commissioner of Operations John Twomey says they want to see all areas adequately policed.
