The latest phishing scam appears to be targeting owners of Apple products.
Local Crime Prevention Officer Sgt John McCormack is urging people to be cautious of any such contacts.
“Phishing emails are circulating impersonating Apple and iCloud claiming that iCloud storage is full or nearly full in order to deceive the victim with the method of rushing them into taking action in order to extend the storage capacity of their device.
“The victim in this case feels under pressure that emails they may have, photographs, videos and files that if they don’t upgrade their device that they may loose all the precious memories that they have.”
Sgt McCormack says it’s important that people do not click on any links claiming that your iCloud storage is at risk but instead to delete the email.
